The Knicks acquired OG Anunoby in a trade with the Toronto Raptors, and his impact was felt right away. OG made his debut in Madison Square Garden against the Minnesota Timberwolves and scored 17 points on 7-12 shooting. OG showed off his defensive tenacity on the court along with his corner threes. He is shooting 44% from corner threes this season, that's because of how the Knicks want to space the floor to allow Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle to operate in space.
Trading away RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley may have felt like a lot in the moment, but as time goes on, Knicks fans are going to fall in love with OG Anunoby, the player and person. Toronto Raptor fans have told me about his dry humor and his serious demeanor but also say not to worry as that's just who he is as a person.
The only thing left is signing OG to a contract this upcoming summer. Something that I've heard the Knicks feel confident in doing so. A player of Anunoby's caliber will be a hot name in free agency. But I wouldn't worry about that now; let's enjoy the ride and make this the best spot for his future. Anunoby isn't the final piece to the puzzle, but he's a massive one.
